Job Description Quality Engineering Lead

Job Description

1. Serve as a focal point for quality assurance.
2. Perform both the roles of QA Lead and individual QA team member.
3. As a project leader,
a. Provide strategy and master test plans for the QE planning of releases of the product.
b. Work with the team to produce feature test plans to include the addressed requirements, scope of the functionality, test environment required, test data required, methodologies employed, validation techniques, reporting mechanism, and assumptions and known limitations.
c. Lead the team in QA testing activities.
d. Work with the team to develop manual and automated test cases using scripts and tools or provide detailed specifications to engineers for automation test tools.
e. Collect and report test planning and test execution metrics daily.
f. Report schedule progress to the program team weekly.
g. Influence the stakeholders to assure appropriate levels of quality on owned products and releases.
h. Provide technical leadership to the team by conducting training sessions and giving tech talks.
i. Develop and train new joiners.
j. Mentor and coach junior engineers to assist their development.
k. Evaluate new ideas proposed by other individuals and those obtained through literature research to determine advisability of a specific technology to current or future projects.
l. Effectively arbitrate and resolve technological divergence(s) within and across teams.
4. As an individual contributor
a. Design, create, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases.
b. Design, develop and maintain test programs including test tools and automated test suites.
c. Reports defects and verifies defect fixes.
d. Work closely with the development team to analyze, debug and resolve any issues.
e. Participate in product functional reviews, design reviews, test specifications, documentation and release note review.
f. Produce a Quality report for every major release.
g. Collaborate effectively with the Development Leads, Software Engineers, Product teams, Ops team, and other QA engineers to develop comprehensive test cases providing maximum test coverage and to deliver end-to-end quality in our technology and customer experience.
h. Conduct periodic bug scrubs to improve test case coverage and reduce production regressions.
i. Conceive new ideas for testing methodologies.
j. Contribute to the best practices and process improvements.
Desired Profile Mandatory Skills

General
1. 6+ years of testing experience
2. B.E/M.S in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
3. Should have passion for Quality.
4. High degree of written and oral communication
5. Ability to work with teams across a matrix organization.
6. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
7. Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
8. Should be a team leader, team player and a self motivator.

Technical
1. Good working knowledge with any RDBMS ( MySQL/Oracle/SQL Server/Other(s) ) and good understanding of the database concepts and SQL queries
2. Hands on experience with at least one of the following
a. Selenium/QTP/Rational/other functional testing automation tool(s)
b. Loadrunner/Jmeter/SLAMD/other performance testing tool(s)
c. Automation/unit testing frameworks like Junit/TestNG/Other(s).
3. Hands on experience with at least one of the following
a. Ruby/Perl/javascript/other scripting language(s)
b. PHP/Java/VC++/C++/C/other programming language(s)
4. Good working knowledge with Unix.

Domain
1. Good working knowledge with Web/Client Server technologie(s).
2. Good knowledge of HTTP Protocol
3. Extensive test planning and test case development experience.
4. Good understanding of the release processes.
5. Good understanding of defect and test case management.


Desired Skills
1. Experience in testing Web Services/ Search/Database applications
2. Working knowledge with Security/Vulnerability/Network testing.
3. Working knowledge with API/SDK testing.
4. Working knowledge with White Box testing.
5. Working knowledge with debugging tools like gdb/dbx, strace/dtrace.
